This is what happens when you see……4 REDS

It is just horrible to read about what happened in Nigeria this past weekend. My instructor always drills it in to me during every flight to rather see 3 white, one red. I am referring to the PAPI light on the edge of the runway. The Precision Approach Path Indicator gives you realtime information regarding your approach, if you are too high you will see 4 out of 4 lights as white. You need to increase your rate of descent to once again intercept the appropriate glide slope.

On one occasion as I was landing in light turbulence I did saw 4 out of 4 red lights. RED YOU’RE DEAD, said the instructor. Barring mechanical failure, this is what happened to that Dana Air flight in Nigeria. 1Time operates the same type of plane as the one which crashed, and 1Time currently has a special running hmmmm makes you wonder if you should book now hey!

Pilot error is a fact but if you stick to your training, events of the past weekend should not happen.
